The Manhattan is a classic cocktail loved by many, and it is so simple! If you haven't watched my video yet, you can find it HERE.
You can't really mess up a Manhattan if you stick to the recipe - however what takes an average Manhattan from average to amazing is ingredients. When you have a stirred, boozy drink, you want to use really good spirits. Here are some recommendations:
Rye Whiskey: (all of these happen to be local to NY!)
For Vermouth, the best of the best is Antica. You can find this in most liquor stores.
2 oz Rye Whiskey
1 oz Sweet Vermouth
2 dashes of bitters
Stir, strain up in a martini glass or over large ice cubes in a rocks glass. Garnish with a brandied cherry. My favorite brandied cherries are Jack Rudy - from Charleston, SC. OMGAH. Be careful not to eat the whole jar.
